 Tamachan Story

Features of "Sagijima no Tama-chan

Sagishima was originally an island where citrus cultivation flourished.
These lemons are grown on the island's unique, well-drained, high-quality soil, bathed in sunlight, and exposed to mineral-rich sea breezes.
It is a tama-chan, filled with the bounty of the island.

One Year Three Colors, Sagishima Lemon

Colors and flavors change with the time of harvest.

Lemons grown in the Setouchi area three times a year,

It is a fruit gem with different expressions.

October Dark green

Green lemons, which are harvested in early fall, are younger than regular lemons and have a thicker rind with a strong acidity and a slightly bitter taste.
In addition, lemons harvested at this time of year have little juice, making them less suitable for squeezing.
It is recommended for flavoring dishes, etc., because of its aroma and acidic accent.
When cut and served with a drink, the lemon flavor is outstanding and provides a clean, refreshing taste.

November Yellow-green

In November, the color of lemons changes from green to lime yellow.
This lemon is in between green and yellow lemons, and retains a good amount of the fresh aroma of the green lemon, but with an increased amount of juice, so you can either squeeze the juice ◎ or use it to enjoy the aroma ◎ or use it to enjoy the aroma ◎ or use it to enjoy the aroma
It is easy to use and allows you to cook even more... ♪

December Yellow

Finally, yellow lemons in their fully ripe state.
The skin becomes moderately soft and full of juice, so it is recommended to squeeze it.
The acidity is also curdled, and a mild, sweet, fruity flavor can be enjoyed.

The secret of the delicious taste is "ice aging.

The secret to the delicious taste of "Sagisima's Tama-chan" is a special preservation technique that protects freshness and brings out the best flavor.

Tama-chan lemons, nurtured by the sun and sea breeze of Sakishima, are not shipped immediately after harvest.
In pursuit of a better taste, we add the extra step of storing the product in a special "ice chamber". The change is created by slowly storing the product under ideal temperature control for approximately one week.
The pulp tightens and retains freshness without losing moisture. The freshness and fragrance are preserved, and the flavor is carefully protected.

This preservation technology, which has been proven in the asparagus "Asparagus 373," is also effective in preserving the quality of lemons.
We deliver freshly picked and delicious food to our customers' tables.

Future Initiatives

Sakijima is known as one of the production centers of "Setouchi lemons. The island's natural environment, including its climate and soil, is suitable for lemon cultivation, and many islanders, including members of the group, grow lemons in their vegetable gardens.
However, most people are at a loss as to where to go with the lemons they grow in their vegetable gardens. It would be a waste to let them rot on the tree without harvesting, even if they bear a lot of fruit!
Kobatake's idea was to buy lemons grown in vegetable gardens on the island, reproduce them as 373.farm brand products, and sell them. We will work on this in the future.

Let's eliminate waste!

This initiative is low-risk and waste-free for both islanders and consumers, and reduces food loss. Producers can earn new income by simply handing over excess lemons from their vegetable gardens in exchange for payment, without complicated procedures.

A new source of income for producers

Aiming to revitalize the island as a whole Through these efforts, we hope to make more people aware of the charms of Sakijima, and thereby revitalize the island as a whole.
A place where islanders can spend their days full of vitality, resilience, and zest for life.

With a population of approximately 600 people, two out of three of whom are elderly, we dream of the day when this area will become a "paradise. Next to asparagus, we will try lemon! The challenge for further development of the island has begun.
